Η Global Gateway είναι η στρατηγική της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης για την προώθηση έξυπνων, καθαρών και ασφαλών συνδέσεων στους τομείς της ψηφιακής τεχνολογίας, της ενέργειας και των μεταφορών, καθώς και για την ενίσχυση των συστημάτων υγείας, εκπαίδευσης και έρευνας σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο.
Η στρατηγική Global Gateway ευθυγραμμίζεται πλήρως με το θεματολόγιο των Ηνωμένων Εθνών για το 2030 και τους στόχους βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης, καθώς και με τη συμφωνία του Παρισιού.
Σκοπός της στρατηγικής Global Gateway είναι να κινητοποιήσει επενδύσεις ύψους έως και 300 δισ. ευρώ.
Μέσω της προσέγγισης «Ομάδα Ευρώπη», η Global Gateway θα φέρει σε επαφή την ΕΕ, τα κράτη μέλη της και τα χρηματοπιστωτικά και αναπτυξιακά ιδρύματά τους, και θα επιδιώξει να κινητοποιήσει τον ιδιωτικό τομέα προκειμένου να μοχλεύσει επενδύσεις για να επιτύχει μετασχηματιστικό αντίκτυπο.
