De Global Gateway is de strategie van de Europese Unie die gericht is op het stimuleren van slimme, schone en veilige verbindingen in de digitale, energie- en vervoerssector en het versterken van de gezondheids-, onderwijs- en onderzoeksstelsels overal ter wereld.
De Global Gateway-strategie is volledig in overeenstemming met de Agenda 2030 van de VN en de duurzameontwikkelingsdoelstellingen daarvan, en met de Overeenkomst van Parijs.
Het is de bedoeling om met behulp van de Global Gateway tot 300 miljard euro aan investeringen aan te trekken.
Aan de hand van een “Team Europa-aanpak” die de EU en de lidstaten samenbrengt met hun financiële en ontwikkelingsinstellingen, zal de particuliere sector ertoe worden aangespoord investeringen aan te trekken en zo ingrijpende veranderingen teweeg te brengen.

De Investeringshub is het centrale toegangspunt voor particuliere investeerders die EU-steun zoeken voor projecten in Sub-Sahara Afrika, Azië of Latijns-Amerika.

De Global Gateway is gericht op infrastructuurgebieden waarmee het hoofd kan worden geboden aan allerlei uitdagingen in de huidige geopolitieke context. De strategie draait rond vijf beleidsterreinen:

Global Gateway is promoting worldwide infrastructure investments that create sustainable, smart, resilient, inclusive and safe networks in all modes of transport.
Global Gateway is strengthening healthcare capacities around the world, helping us to overcome diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, yellow fever, tuberculosis or HIV/AIDS.
Global Gateway is investing in quality education, paying attention to the inclusion of vulnerable groups, and is working with partner countries to strengthen cooperation on research and innovation.
